2026 ASCRS PREVIEW PROGRAM | 13 ASCRS PROGRAM YOUNG EYE SURGEONS (YES) SKILLS TRANSFER BS FRIDAY, APRIL 10 Phaco A review of basic and advanced phaco practices and procedures including phaco settings and fluidics, incisions, capsulorhexis, phacoemulsification, nuclear disassembly (using chopping and divide and conquer techniques), cortex removal, anterior vitrectomy, post-cataract wound corneal suturing, and use of complex cataract devices (CTR, miLOOP). YES STL-1 2:00–3:00 p.m. YES STL-2 3:30–4:30 p.m. MIGS Participants will be able to practice various microinvasive glaucoma surgical techniques, using a variety of microstents and other devices. Planned techniques include: GATT, iTrack, KDB Glide, Micropulse, EndoOptiks, Hydrus, iStent Inject, OMNI, and TrabEx. YES STL-3 2:00–3:30 p.m. YES STL-4 4:00–5:30 p.m. DMEK/DSAEK DMEK: Participants will be able to practice the DMEK technique for implantation and positioning of the donor cornea tissue through use of an artificial anterior chamber and pre-loaded corneal tissue. DSAEK: Participants will be able to practice tissue insertion for DSAEK and positioning of the donor tissue. YES STL-5 9:00–11:00 a.m. YES STL-6 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. DALK Participants will be able to learn about and practice the DALK surgical technique, including graft preparation and implantation. Detailed instruction including videos with experienced instructors will guide participants in learning basic DALK techniques including big bubble and manual dissection. YES STL-7 2:00–3:30 p.m. Hands-on Yamane Technique Participants will be able to practice the Yamane technique of intrascleral haptic fixation of an intraocular lens. Experienced instructors will guide participants in performing intrascleral needle passes, docking IOL haptics into a needle, and cauterizing haptics for scleral fixation. YES STL-8 4:00–5:00 p.m. Refractive This lab will allow novice refractive surgeons to engage in hands-on training with the wide breadth of modern-day refractive surgeries. The lab will begin with a brief didactic video-based lecture (no more than 10 minutes) highlighting the basics and fundamental steps of LASIK, LALEX (e.g., SMILE), PRK, and EVO ICL. This will be followed by hands-on practical wet lab experiences at each designated station. YES STL-9 9:00–10:30 a.m. YES STL-10 1:00–2:30 p.m. ICL Enhance your surgical skillset with hands-on training in Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) implantation. This interactive lab offers a focused opportunity to practice key steps of ICL surgery, including lens loading, insertion, and positioning techniques. YES STL-11 3:00–4:00 p.m. SATURDAY, APRIL 11 Hands-on Yamane Technique Participants will be able to practice the Yamane technique of intrascleral haptic fixation of an intraocular lens. Experienced instructors will guide participants in performing intrascleral needle passes, docking IOL haptics into a needle, and cauterizing haptics for scleral fixation. YES STL-12 9:30–10:30 a.m.
