20 | 2021 ASCRS Annual Meeting Preview Program ASCRS PROGRAM YOUNG EYE SURGEONS (YES) ASCRS is pleased to provide several activities exclusively for young eye surgeons. FRIDAY, JULY 23, 2021 YES Cataract Surgery/ MIGS Wet Labs* This session will review steps of the cataract surgical procedure, including: incisions, capsulorhexis, machine settings, phacoemulsification, fluidics, cortex removal, chopping, flipping, and placement of capsular tension rings, iris hooks, and expansion rings. Part 2 will explore various glaucoma procedures to include minimally invasive glaucoma surgery and microstent implant – trabecular and supraciliary. Additional instruction on drug delivery in cataract surgery, dense cataracts, nuclear disassembly, secondary lenses, and the Yamane technique will be provided. Target audience: Residents, fellows, and those in their first 5 years of practice 9:00–11:00 a.m. Y-STL-1: Cataract Surgery and MIGS Wet Lab Lead instructors: Zachary Zavodni, MD, Manjool Shah, MD 12:00–2:00 p.m. Y-STL-2: Cataract Surgery and MIGS Wet Lab Lead instructors: Joey Hsia, MD, Kourtney Houser, MD 2:30–4:30 p.m. Y-STL-3: Cataract Surgery and MIGS Wet Lab Lead instructors: Naveen Rao, MD, Leela Raju, MD DMEK/DSAEK Wet Labs* (Limited availability) This session will include a hands-on lab to learn and explore DSAEK and DMEK. Participants will be able to practice the various types of tissue insertion for DSAEK including the EndoSerter, EndoGlide, Busin glide, suture pull-through, and sheets glide methods. Participants will also be able to practice the DMEK technique for implantation and positioning of the donor cornea tissue through use of an artificial anterior chamber and pre-loaded corneal tissue.
