There is about a 20% staff turnover. The concern is that by 2035, we'll see 70% workforce inadequacy, he added, so efficiency is important. From the surgeon's perspective, it's challenging with staff burnout and turnover, insufficient training programs, and limited resources to train on the job. Surgeons also face fatigue and need a great team working with them, he said. How do you leverage technology to build a better team? "We have to create a better structure and provide our teams with the essential resources," he said. "With new hires, it is important to let them know about the options they will have in your organization. Through Alchemy Vision, we have developed easy-to-follow, video-based learning pathways. Your designated team leaders should give all new hires a roadmap that provides a ladder with achievable milestones and benchmarks." Alchemy Vision, which Dr. Shultz co-founded, has helped turn what traditionally had been provided in PDF or textbook formats into an engaging, video-based education platform. Alchemy Vision provides learners with a modern and technology-forward platform that is accessible from any web-enabled device, he said. It features more than 200 modules incorporating motion graphics, skills reinforce- ment, and well-known KOLs from across the country. Sydney Tyson, MD, MPH, spoke about issues with breaches of data and security and the headaches these can cause. "Our companies are healthcare companies, and our information is 20 times more valuable to a criminal than any other data out there," he said. He shared a personal experience with a cyberattack and noted that the aftermath impacted productivity and morale. Scheduling was impacted, and many charts had to be recre- ated from paper. He said there was also loss of income and reputational damage, and the staff had to work extra hard to help restore lost data. continued on next page p Some of the ASCRS Digital Clinical Committee members and symposium speakers at the 2024 ASCRS Annual Meeting, from left: Grayson W.
