e ASCRS Foundation offers numerous grants
and awards to encourage physicians to get involved
with the Foundation and global eyecare, as well as
facilitate attendance at the Annual Meeting.
CHANG-CRANDALL HUMANITARIAN AWARD
Endowed by the generosity of David and Victoria
Chang, the Chang-Crandall Humanitarian Award
is given annually to recognize the life's work of
those who inspire excellence in the field of global
cataract surgery.
OPERATION SIGHT GRANT
e Operation Sight Grant program supports or-
ganizations and practices with charitable cataract
programs that have a verified 501(c)(3) status or
an affiliation with a verified 501(c)(3) organi-
zation. e grant is intended to support local
organizations to expand access to free cataract care
to underserved patient populations that meet or
exceed the Operation Sight patient criteria.
RESIDENT EXCELLENCE AWARD
e ASCRS Foundation gives 10 awards annual-
ly to enable ophthalmolog y residents exhibiting
exemplary performance to attend the ASCRS
Annual Meeting. Recipients receive a travel grant,
four nights of accommodations, complimentary
meeting registration, and invitations to select lead-
ership and social events.
YOUNG EYE SURGEONS INTERNATIONAL
SERVICE GRANT
e Young Eye Surgeons International Service
Grant was created to inspire young eye surgeons
to become involved with global eyecare on a long-
term basis. e grant affords the opportunity to
participate in healthcare systems, including teach-
ing institutions and community programs, in
developing countries.
