"JCRS is still very much the product of the visionaries that founded the journal. ey saw the need for
an academic journal that addressed the rapidly evolving fields of cataract surgery and reactive surgery.
rough advances like the advent of laser reactive surgery, development of the femtosecond laser, and
the introduction of presbyopic intraocular lens technologies, JCRS has sought to vet and share the science
that moves such advances forward while also offering a product that is readable and full of pearls for
the everyday surgeon. As a current editor, I am proud to be part of this effort, and I am excited about
helping the journal continue this mission."
—WILLIAM DUPPS JR ., MD, PhD, JCRS Editor
"Early days at JCRS … what comes to mind?
Multiple growth spurts. e Society's newsletter
grew to the quarterly AIOIS Journal very quickly
and within another few years to a bimonthly
publication. en came the merger of the American
and European society journals. at was the most
challenging growth spurt because of the increased
publication schedule and uncertainty about how
the two editorial groups would work together.
But it was a model collaboration and significantly
enhanced the quality of the journal and thus its
educational value to the members."
