12 | 2024 ASCRS ASOA PREVIEW PROGRAM ASCRS PROGRAM YOUNG EYE SURGEONS (YES) SKILLS TRANSFER BS FRIDAY, APRIL 5 phaco A review of basic and advanced phaco practices and procedures including phaco settings and fluidics, incisions, capsulorhexis, phacoemulsification, cortex removal, nuclear disassembly, chopping, flipping, and anterior vitrectomy. *YES STL-1 9:00–10:00 a.m. *YES STL-2 10:30–11:30 a.m. *YES STL-3 1:00–2:00 p.m. *YES STL-4 2:30–3:30 p.m. hands on yamane technique Participants will be able to practice the Yamane technique of intrascleral haptic fixation of an intraocular lens. Experienced instructors will guide participants in performing intrascleral needle passes, docking IOL haptics into a needle, and cauterizing haptics for scleral fixation. *YES STL-5 9:00–10:00 a.m. anterior segment surgery Explore various glaucoma procedures to include minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, nuclear disassembly, pupil expansion, and CTR insertion. *YES STL-6 10:30–11:30 a.m. *YES STL-7 1:00–2:00 p.m. *YES STL-8 2:30–3:30 p.m. dmek/dsaek Participants will be able to practice the DMEK technique for implantation and positioning of the donor cornea tissue through use of an artificial anterior chamber and pre-loaded corneal tissue. Participants will be able to practice tissue insertion for DSAEK and positioning of the donor tissue. *YES STL-9 9:00–11:00 a.m. *YES STL-10 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. dalk Participants will be able to learn and practice the DALK surgical technique, including graft preparation and implantation. Detailed instruction including videos with experienced instructors will guide participants in learning basic DALK techniques including big bubble and manual dissection. *YES STL-11 2:00–3:30 p.m. SATURDAY, APRIL 6 hands on yamane technique Participants will be able to practice the Yamane technique of intrascleral haptic fixation of an intraocular lens. Experienced instructors will guide participants in performing intrascleral needle passes, docking IOL haptics into a needle, and cauterizing haptics for scleral fixation. *YES STL-12 2:00–3:00 p.m. *Registration fee applies.
