2022 ASCRS Annual Meeting Preview Program | 17 ASCRS PROGRAM SYMPOSIA ON MONDAY, APRIL 25 8:00–9:30 a.m. Social Justice Moderators: Ann Caroline Fisher, MD, Leon W. Herndon, MD In this symposium, attendees can join their peers and ASCRS leadership to exchange knowledge about leading social justice issues. This interactive event works to increase awareness, foster open communication, and highlight research and resources to empower members to take action to improve patient care, staff retention and satisfaction, and practice partnership recruitment. Refractive Surgery in Irregular Corneas Sponsored by the ASCRS Cornea Clinical Committee and the ASCRS Refractive Surgery Clinical Committee Moderators: Marjan Farid, MD, Cathleen McCabe, MD This joint symposium aims to increase knowledge in refractive options for irregular corneas. Diagnostic evaluations and various treatment options for corneas that have genetic or acquired corneal irregularities will be reviewed. Evidence-based outcomes and clinical experience with new technologies such as genetic screening and image analysis in assessing irregular corneas as well as treatments including laser and small aperture options will be discussed. The Perfect Save: Challenging Cases Managed by International Experts Sponsored by the International Intra-Ocular Implant Club (IIIC) Moderators: Eric Donnenfeld, MD, Thomas Kohnen, MD, PhD The International Intra-Ocular Implant Club (IIIC) was founded in 1966 by Sir Harold Ridley, the inventor of the IOL, and is an invitational society devoted to the art and the science of intraocular lens implantation. This symposium will focus on case-based cataract surgery including management of complications, new technology, IOL calculations, and advanced techniques to improve surgical outcomes. The expertise of international leaders in cataract surgery will be highlighted in a case-based program featuring video presentations and will be discussed by a panel of thought leaders in the field of lens-based surgery. 1:30–3:00 p.m. Surgical and Pharmacological Approaches to Presbyopia Management Sponsored by the ASCRS Cataract Clinical Committee Moderators: Nicole Fram, MD, Kevin Miller, MD The focus of this symposium will be presbyopia management in 2022. New pharmacologic approaches and new and established surgical approaches will be reviewed. Presenters will conclude by discussing what to do if a patient isn't happy with the surgical outcome of the first eye. Essential Cornea In-Office Procedures: Case-Based Management Sponsored by the ASCRS Cornea Clinical Committee Moderators: Marjan Farid, MD, Francis Mah, MD This interactive case-based session will dive into the essential corneal procedures that can be done in the office. Attendees will be able to ask the faculty questions by ARS and gain pearls to implement change in their practice. 3:30–5:00 p.m. Bachelor(ette) Moderator: David Chang, MD Four patients are on a journey to find their perfect IOL for life. Faculty experts pitch their best recommendations, and the audience makes the selection. Innovations in Anterior Segment Surgery Sponsored by the Alliance of Cataract and Refractive Specialty Societies Moderators: Graham Barrett, MD, William De La Peña, MD, Edward J. Holland, MD, Rudy Nuijts, MD, PhD International faculty will discuss what's new in anterior segment surgery.
